American model Edythe Hughes was born the 25th of January in 1990 in Alexandria, Ohio. She was scouted at the mall one day in her hometown Alexandria. Ever since then, she has been a model in the industry, modeling now for six and a half years. Her current model friends include Simona McIntyre, Danielle Hamm, and Kate Somers. Edythe is beautiful model and is most notably known for her long, slender legs. She is currently represented by Elite Model Management of New York, Models 1, Marilyn Agency of Paris, Why Not Model Agency, and Ford Models of Europe, and is well on her way to becoming one of the most recognizable models in the industry, despite her young career.
Edythe may be relatively new to the modeling world but in the six years since she has been a professional model, she has already walked for several major shows. She walked for designers such as Calvin Klein, who she first debuted for, in February of 2007 for the fall show in New York. She also walked for Peter Som, Rebecca Taylor, and Vera Wang in New York in September of 2007. She closed the spring Undercover show in Paris in October 2007, and in 2008 she opened in London for the Eley Kishimoto, she walked in the spring Chado Ralph Rucci, Marchesa, Vivienne Tam, and Emporio Armani shows in New York and Milan. Edythe’s last time on a runway was in September of 2009 when she walked the spring show for Roksanda Ilincic, Luella, Miu Miu, Alexander McQueen, and Lanvin shows in London and Paris. Not only has she got to walk for big names but she has featured in editorials and on numerous fashion magazines like Velvet, Glamour, Teen Vogue, and Dazed & Confused. She also got to appear on Oprah in 2007 modeling for Vera Wang, making her one of the few models to make such a prominent televised appearance. Though she stays incredibly busy as a model, Edythe still makes time for her other interests and passions, many of which involve helping those who are less fortunate than she is. Edythe has done mass amounts charitable work over her years as a model and has also set up her own charity foundation in October of 2012.
Project Tree Model is the foundation Edythe has been working on especially heavily lately. Rather than focusing on just a model’s looks—a flaw of the industry that can be degrading to the men and women in it—this foundation focuses on highlighting other talents that models have, especially their artistic talents. Edythe became very aware of the artistic ability of models while working in the fashion industry world. She noticed that most of the models don’t get to show their other talent because they are either working too hard or are not really sure how to begin showcasing their other interests and abilities. After realizing this, Edythe wanted to create a place where they could learn, develop their art, and eventually show it off to the public. She gets local businesses to help run the shows by having them cater for the shows or letting her host a show in their space. Most of the time her shows very inexpensive and successful because everyone is on board with this clever idea. Her charitable contributions combined with her success as a model make Edythe Hughes a well-loved name in the fashion industry.
